The Employment First Community of Practice (CoP) Webinar Series is structured to augment the technical assistance areas of primary focus in Employment First systems change (Capacity Building, Provider Transformation, School-to-Work Transition, Employer Engagement, and Policy/Funding Alignment). CoP participants will benefit from national subject matter experts (SMEs) presenting information and resources to support Employment First efforts.

Topic: 

This webinar will focus on "Successful CE Examples for Vets." Debbie Ball will introduce several Veterans who have successfully transitioned from the military into civilian jobs with the assistance of Customized Employment. Intertwined with those stories will be the definition of Customized Employment, highlights of the key principles and examples of how those key principals can be integrated into current practices to improve Competitive Individual Employment for Veterans. The webinar will provide simple tools and resources that participants can use to begin implementing Customized Employment into their daily work. Additionally, there will be an interactive question and answer period at the end of the presentation to ensure that everyone has the takeaways and clarification that they need.
 
Webinar Objectives

During this webinar, we will: 

• Introduce webinar attendees to Veterans who have obtained CIE by using CE
• Understand why CE works well for veterans
• Examine how to provide CE for returning veterans 

Guest Speaker: Debbie Ball
Debbie Ball has spent over 20 years advocating for societal change and creating pathways to ensure that change occurs. In addition to building vision and aptitude within Easterseals Southern California’s Employment Division, Debbie works with stakeholders throughout the country to build capacity and create urgency around Customized Employment and Employment First. Her concurrent roles as Easterseals Vice President, board member on the CA APSE and Foundation for Developmental Disabilities, advisory committee member of the UCLA Tarjan UCEDD and membership in numerous coalitions lets Debbie to connect with some of the country’s best minds. Additionally, her experiences allow her to continue working with and on behalf of others committed to ending isolation and building brighter futures for people with barriers to employment including veterans and individuals with dual diagnosis.
