Understanding Pediatric Brain Injury -  
Children are not small adults, so a brain injury or concussion can bring a whole new set of questions, concerns, and systems for providers. Carrie Van Quathem, Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation at ChildServe will provide an overview of pediatric brain injury, including concussion, return to school, and the impacts of brain injury on a child’s development over time. After attending this session, participants will be able to:

• Describe special characteristics and considerations with pediatric brain injury
• Understand the basic components of caring for children with brain injury
• Identify key resources for supporting children with brain injury in Iowa
